Social Networking
I have come to the realization that I have way more ways to social network than I actually have interesting life content to share.
I have a facebook.
I have a twitter.
I have this blog.
I now have a Google+.
Ugh. Sometimes it’s fun (most of the time, really), but sometimes it makes we want to go back to the Italian coastline in the Cinque Terre and unplug for a while.

It's our 3 year 6 month anniversary!
I just wanted to document our facebook statuses to each other because they are pretty cute.
Mine to him:
As far as boyfriends go, Anthony Schmidt is totally boss. He is the cheese to my macaroni. (Happy 3.5 years Tony!)
The original quote is from “Juno”, where Juno is describing how she feels about Bleeker.
His to me:
Celebrating 42 months with Chelsea Kirk! She’s the answer...
Did you hear a click?
Rita and Frank try to take a still photo to email to friends for Frank’s 84th Birthday on their new Mac.
Rita and Frank succeed in being the most precious couple ever. Beware, my friends, this will probably be us when we are old. This newfangled technology!

Tony's Songs, Week 2
I truly love The Early November. I’m thinking I might learn this song on guitar since I sing it all the time anyway. Anthony said he liked it, so yay!
:-)

Tony's Songs
I’ve been picking songs to send to Tony every Thursday to kind of celebrate another week behind us of our year apart. I thought maybe I’d document them here, too. I’m hoping to eventually send him a mix-tape (is he reading this?). Hopefully I’ll be able to keep up with it while I’m in Europe, but if not, he’ll get a flood when I get home. :-)

Exercising.
We should all do it. Probably every day. I usually don’t.
I dragged my butt 3.6 miles today. I didn’t run it all (not nearly; not even half of it) and my knee aches now but I feel great! I plan on trying to do this more often, especially since in Lexington there is always someone running by you in their tiny shorts making you feel like a lazy bum, so running is not out of the...
Penniless Thoughts: Class of 2011 →
dsbaker7:
For my first post, I thought it would be fitting to mention that on May 8, 2011, I became an alumni of the University of Kentucky. After 4 long, but interesting, years, with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Minor in Philosophy, I don’t feel any smarter or more capable of taking on the…

Another Fantastic Osama Blog
I hope you’ve seen Mean Girls (best movie ever):
“Osama, I can’t invite you, because I think you’re a terrorist.” I mean I couldn’t have a terrorist at my party. I mean right? He was a TERRORIST. So then his mom called my mom and started yelling at her, it was so retarded. And then he dropped out of school because no one would talk to him, and he came back in the fall for high school, all...

Facebook Statuses and Osama Bin Laden
I’m sitting on the couch with my roommates and some friends watching President Obama speak about Osama being killed. We’ve been having too much fun reading the facebook statuses about this, so I thought I’d document a few of them.
“I’m very disappointed that we killed Osama Bin Laden……before we had the chance to clone him so we can kill him every year at...

My Award Winning Haiku
I haven’t posted in over a year. I decided I’m going to start blogging again. :]
To start out again, I would like to post my finals week-themed haiku that won 3rd prize in the Honors Program competition (a mid-sized chocolate bunny).
Who needs to study
When you could write a haiku
Or just not study
Happy studying, everyone!

9/11 is the new Pearl Harbor
Dr. Egan, my Sociology 101 professor, presented these ideas in his lecture on March 24th, 2009.
September 11th is the new Pearl Harbor. Both were tremendous tragedies. Both changed public opinion about entering wars, basically overnight. Both incidents also have uncanny evidence suggesting that they may have been inside jobs.
The attack on Pearl Harbor took place on Sunday, December 7th, 1941....

"home"
i’m only here for 8 more days.
it’s enough to make my throat tighten.
my parents, or my lack of morals, or fate, or God, or whoever, has managed to turn my favorite season into months i can’t stand and pray to end as soon as possible.
i don’t even know who to blame.
i don’t want to go back.
"potty training" en Ingles y Espanol
A few weeks ago, Anthony and I volunteered at the Bluegrass Technical Center. This is an amazing place that modifies items so that people (mostly children) with physical or mental handicaps have a better time at using them. The goal is to help this population become more independent and to provide them with more tools for learning. The Center also provides counseling and resources for the...
Joe Salatin!
Anthony and I are taking a trip (and skipping classes YEAH) to Berea College today to see Joe Salatin speak. We also get to eat dinner with him tonight (I have a professor who gave us the sweet hookup). Anthony doesn’t really know much about him. I’m kind of in love with him.
He is a political activist (POWER TO THE FARMERS) and a sustainable, organic farmer. He believes in caring for...
observe and report
agreed. i saw a sneak preview for it at UK, and my friends and i left shaking our heads. it wasn’t that great, and like you pointed out, parts of it were just really weird.
this is a movie i recommend people NOT going to see.
tarynn:
is really disturbing.
parts are very funny. But parts are definitely not. Including what is essentially date rape (I mean, c’mon. really?) and some pretty...

sadness!
today was my last class in my last course of my honors track!
now what do i do?
i love world food issuses.
sigh.
has anyone else noticed
that on the home page for tumblr, there are a ton of places to “sign up in 10 seconds” but there is only the little link to actually sign in to an existing blog?
for some reason that really bothers me everytime i come here.
lol, just wanted to share.
outside
is so beautiful today.
the snow looks perfect.

weird weekend.
i didn’t think i could get lonely.
guess i can.
i. hate. english.
as much as i love reading the books we’ve read and learning what we’ve learned about the African American experience, i cannot stand getting a B.
but i need a 101 on our final paper. which is impossible.
today was a bad day.
really bad.
okay, so one good thing happened. my spanish teacher gave me an A and wrote “iBien!” on my spanish paper about Wiggles, haha.
in sickness and in health
i’m wasting away, i think. i can’t really remember ever being this sick and not really knowing why,
or having doctors scratch their heads, hand me some pills and tell me to “come back if those don’t work.”
i’ve never been told “i miss you” by someone who’s bed i’ve been in basically 24-7 for three days now.
the only time i’ve...
today is good
period
i was so tired
that i fell asleep while taking notes in the front row of a room with over two hundred people in it today.
i wasn’t even that tired when i got in there. so i don’t know.
narcolepsy, maybe?
it's not often that you have an anniversary.
except if you’re me, i guess, because i treat every month as a little celebration.
not because “thank god we made it another month”, but because if i didn’t contain myself, we would have a little party everyday.
eleven months. woo! :] how amazing they’ve been.
and yet i keep thinking about how i’ve had an eleven month anniversary before. and that one was four...
i hate my stomach.
lately i’ve felt sick after basically every meal.
not cool.

hopes dangles on a string.
you’re in my hometown, and i’m in yours.
actually, i’m sitting on your bed, playing on your laptop, wearing your pajama pants.
ha.
and you’re asleep twelve minutes from my parent’s house. if your apartment allowed cats i swear i would tell you to drive by my house and kidnap her.
anyway, i love you. i know you won’t read this until a couple of days from now,...

speaking of internships.....
anthony said last night that maybe i should be an agricultural engineer.
i’m thinking i want to be a psychological researcher.
but i don’t know. maybe i should just quit school and be a farmer.
wow. this should be exciting.
i really hope i get this internship.
i mean, a year is a really long commitment. and i have this feeling that i’m not good enough at something ((biology, chemistry, researching stuff, being generally smart)) and that i might make a fool of myself for trying.
but honestly…..doing research on sustainable organic agriculture? how could i not?
plus…..i get to work in a greenhouse....
i started my journey today.
my Journal Journey, to be exact.
what is a J/J, you ask?
basically me and about ten other honors kids ((out of the several hundred there are)) showed up to the meeting saying we were interested in getting a mentor and writing for an entire year.
for one hour of credit.
yeah, hardcore right?
anyway, so i wrote my first entry just now, finally. and i discovered that my mentor is from jamaica i...
sigh.
so many of my friends are 1) extremely unhappy or 2) depressed
and it seems like they’re all stuck in a rut. and it’s very contagious.
which is bad, because i’m starting to feel like i’m getting in one of my ruts, and i don’t want to, but i already kind of feel the rain cloud over my shoulders and i just want it to be summer again.
it would also be nice if wiggles...
